Our History

The lineage of Slingerland & Clark, P.C. traces back to 1982, when Robert Fuenty and Kurt P. Klein opened the practice of Fuenty & Klein. Later, T. Jordan Gallagher joined them and the firm was renamed as Gallagher, Fuenty & Klein and then went on to become Gallagher, Klein & Brady, and Gallagher & Brady.

The firm relocated its office from DeKalb, IL to Sycamore, IL in 1990. William P. Brady left the firm in 2004 and Jack C. Slingerland became a partner in Gallagher & Slingerland. After T. Jordan Gallagher received a judicial appointment in 2008, the law practice became Slingerland & Associates. Dale Clark became the co-owner with Jack Slingerland on February 1, 2012, and the firm became Slingerland & Clark, P.C.

Jack C. Slingerland received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. He has served as a DeKalb County Assistant State's Attorney, as a DeKalb County Public Defender, and as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois. He has also served as a member of the legislative staff of the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives.

Jack has been practicing law for more than 30 years. He is the co-owner of Slingerland & Clark, P.C. He is a member of the Kane County Bar Association and is a member and past president of the DeKalb County Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in Federal and State Courts.

Dale J. Clark

In 1994, Dale J. Clark graduated cum laude from Northern Illinois University School of Law. He began his career by working on personal injury cases at the Law Office of Howard S. Miller in Elgin, IL. In 1997, he started his firm in DeKalb, IL, expanding his practice areas to include criminal defense, general civil litigation, family law, probate, and real estate transactions.

Dale joined our firm in 2006 and is now the co-owner of Slingerland & Clark, P.C. He has served as a court-appointed guardian ad litem to represent children in custody disputes. He has formerly served on CASAs Board of Directors. He is a member of the Kane County Bar Association, the DeKalb County Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. He also serves as a hearing officer for DeKalb County and is a former trustee for the Village of Hinckley.

Attorney Dale J. Clark has over 25 years of experience in family law and is a trained family mediator. Whether you have been ordered by the court to attend mediation or you need help reaching an agreement with the other parent regarding your child, Attorney Clark can help both the parties with the process.
